House Concurrent Resolution 32
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF MR. JAMES FRANKLIN BROWER AS ELECTION COMMISSIONER.
WHEREAS, James Franklin Brower was born in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, on April 18, 1922, to Walton Brower and Katie Denby Brower; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brower attended elementary school at Scuna Valley Schools and graduated from high school at Coffeeville High School; and
WHEREAS, marrying Martha Castner, of Banner, Mississippi, in 1953, the couple was blessed with one son, Jim Brower; and
WHEREAS, having honorably served his country in the Army during World War II, Mr. Brower returned to the New Hope Community and began farming; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brower was an active member of his community, serving on the Board of Trustees of Coffeeville School, the Federal Land Bank, the Coffeeville Co-op and the FHA; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brower was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Coffeeville where he served as a deacon and served the church on various committees; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brower, who was appointed Election Commissioner in 1964 by Governor Paul B. Johnson, Jr., served the citizens of District 5 in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, to the best of his ability in carrying out his duties as Election Commissioner for 33 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brower departed this life on September 11, 1997, causing great loss to his family, friends and community:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. James Franklin Brower and extend our appreciation for his many years of service to Yalobusha County, Mississippi, as Election Commissioner.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. James Franklin Brower and the Capitol Press Corps.
